Good Morning Everyone,
Now that it the Holidays are over, many people are
concentrating on getting healthy. This blog is going to focus on FOODS THAT BUILD STRONG BONES.

I am also trying to eat healthier, not diet…If my brain
thinks I am dieting it goes into HELL NO MODE, and thinks of ways
to sabotages me, so from day to day I try to change things up a little at a
time.
In doing research for this blog and myself, I came across
this little book called Speaking of Women’s
Health: The Book 2004 put out by 2004 National Speaking of Women’s
Health Foundation, which has some wonderful information in it on many
different subjects. It has some fantastic recipes for various parts of one’s
life, such as: Heart Healthy, Strong Bones, and Mental Health. Through having
come across this book, I discovered their website: https://speakingofwomenshealth.com/
and it has been a blessing. It has oodles of very good facts and figures that are
not hard to understand.
Now on to some of the info contained in the book:
(1)
Good sources for Vitamin A and beta-carotene are; Deep
Orange Fruits, Orange Winter Squash, Green Leafy Vegetables, Low-Fat Milk, and
Eggs.
(2)
Calcium; Same as above + Sardines and Salmon, and
Calcium Fortified Foods.
(3)
Vitamin D; Fatty Fish, Egg Yolks, Fortified Milk and
Cereals.
(4)
Vitamin K; Broccoli, Liver, Legumes, and Eggs.
(5)
Manganese; Pineapple, Sweet Potatoes, Spinach, Whole
Grains, Nuts, and Seeds.
(6)
Phytoestrogens; Flaxseed, Edamame, and Other Soy
Products.
(7)
Zinc; Lean Meats, Liver, Seafood, Poultry, Lentils,
Whole Grains, Wheat Germ, Buckwheat, and Brazil Nuts.
Honestly, the things listed above are common sense. Most of
us that have struggled with our weight know much of the information that is out
there, but for one reason or another make excuses not to follow what we know is
true. For example: I don’t like this or that or the other, I don’t have time,
or any number of others. Believe me, I do and say the same thing but now that I
am going to be 50 on my next birthday, I not only NEED to, but WANT to start
taking care of myself better. It is time to Buck-Up and take control.
Well that is all for this time. I hope to see you next time.
Please comment, I really appreciate the feedback and it would be great if you
sent someone on over too.
Until next time,
Anita (nener86)
